Crime Prevention

Crime prevention is a pattern of attitudes and behaviors directed at reducing the threat of crime and enhancing the sense of safety and security, to positively influence the quality of life in our society, and to develop environments where crime cannot flourish.

The Crime Prevention Unit is tasked to implement programs to help citizens protect themselves and their property from crime. The unit is made up from different divisions within the Byron Police Department.

The many programs available through the unit demonstrate the Byron Police Department and community partnership in the law enforcement effort.

The Crime Prevention Unit is also responsible for the Civic Association Liaison Program. Through this program, an officer attends Civic Association meetings, listens to residents’ concerns and advises them on criminal activity in their area.

Officers in the Crime Prevention Unit are frequently called upon to speak to groups about crime prevention, drug abuse, bicycle safety and other topics of law enforcement concern.

For crime prevention information, call (478) 956-2880, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, or visit the Byron Police Department at 401 Main Street, Byron, GA (Byron Municipal Complex).
